How to get here
By Car
-
From Cape Town, there are 2 options:
-
Take the N2 east and travel via Riviersonderend, Swellendam, George , Knysna. Pass Plettenberg Bay and take the R102 right to Nature’s Valley. Total approx. distance and time: 550km; 6h15min
-
Take the N1 North towards Worcester. From Worcester, take the R60 to Swellendam via Robertson and Ashton (turn right after Ashton). Take the N2 east from Swellendam, then pass Plettenberg Bay and take the R102 to Nature’s Valley. Total approx. distance and time: 556km; 6h30min
-
-
From Gqeberha (Port Elizabeth), take the N2 west and travel for approximately 195km. Take the Nature’s Valley R102 turnoff just after the N2 tollgate and drive for another 9.6km. Total approx. distance and time: 204km; 2 hours
-
From Johannesburg, take the N1 south until Colesberg. At Colesberg turn onto the N9 until Graaff-Reinet; then choose from the following options:
-
Via Willowmore and Uniondale, the R339 and then R340 towards Keurboomstrand (note that the route after Uniondale includes a pass with dirt roads). Turn left (east) on the N2 and carry on for approx. 15km, then turn right towards Nature’s Valley (for approx. 7km). Total approx. distance and time from Johannesburg: 1160km; 12h23min
-
Via Jansenville, Kleinpoort and Kariega (formally Uitenhage). You can carry straight on towards Gqberha (Port Elizabeth) – it’s the easiest, but 20km longer, but otherwise try the following shortcut: just before entering Kariega, turn right into Graaff-Reinet Road. If you are able to, it is best to turn on your GPS from here (straight after you have turned right into Graaff-Reinet road) to guide you to the N2, otherwise follow the road (it becomes Church Rd) and turn right in Caledon Street; then left in Cuyler on the R334. Follow the R334 – it eventually merges with the R102 towards the N2 highway. Turn right (west) on the N2 and carry on via Jeffrey’s Bay, Humansdorp, Stormsriver. At the Tstitsikamma Toll Plaza, take the R102 towards Nature’s Valley (approx. 9.6km from here). Total approx. distance and time from Johannesburg: 1243km; 12h36min
-
For an alternate route (approx. 100 kms longer), continue on the N9 till George. Take the N2 direction Knysna, Plettenberg Bay to Nature’s Valley.
